OUR WORK
Anderson Business Consulting is an Alberta-based consultancy with deep roots in infrastructure planning. We are passionate about maximizing public and private investments in the basic facilities and organizations that support our society.
Our mission is to deliver creative infrastructure management solutions that build great communities. Our work focuses on the intersection of transportation, healthcare, housing and asset management in urban and rural communities across Alberta. We use a range of innovative approaches to achieve community outcomes through an integrative, collaborative approach.
TRANSPORTATION
TRANSPORTATION
Sustainable transport is a major crisis facing our growing population in both urban and rural areas. Congestion in cities, rural areas cut off from the rest of the world, and too many people without access to safe, efficient, and sustainable transportation stifles economic growth and restricts quality of life in communities across Canada. Recently there have been large investments in infrastructure, are these projects achieving their stated goals?
And perhaps the most tragic reality is this: 19,619 people died in Canada in traffic-related incidents over the past decade, approximately 16% of which were pedestrians. This is a preventable loss of life that needs to be addressed through effective administrative and engineering interventions, and has shown signs of decreasing in recent years.
HEALTHCARE
Aging population, increasingly complex technology, and a changing regulatory environment creates challenges for organizations that deliver primary health care services. People expect more transparent, accessible and responsive services from their health care providers and meeting these expectations can be overwhelming. Many organizations are trying to make do with incremental change and physicians and other healthcare providers are experimenting with new models of care delivery. Healthcare organizations of all sizes need trusted advisors to help them transform how they deliver health care services in different types of communities and clinic environments.
Development of a health care centre is a complex endeavour. Does your organization have the resources to effectively organize and lead project teams, manage schedule and scope changes, and plan and control your construction budget? Clinic projects benefit from rigorously applied project management best practices and experienced professionals representing your interests at every stage of your development.
HOUSING
Housing is a considerable expense for most families and is critical to the well-being and health of society. Canada has one of the best housing systems in the world but some 1.7 million families still don’t have a home that meets their basic needs. With soaring real estate prices and increased cost of living, there is significant pressure on all households to manage expenses and this is especially acute for households on a fixed income.
Agencies that provide housing need to consider capital, operating and maintenance costs in the context of limited infrastructure funding, pressure to minimize operating budgets, and a growing infrastructure renewal funding gap. Rigorous technical analysis is needed to support informed business cases, feasibility studies and options analysis reports and ensure the best decisions are made with the scarce resources available. This includes developing a holistic understanding of a community's unique needs through extensive stakeholder engagement.
